Snow Zebra Sulawesi Shrimp — Captive Bred & Neo-Parameter Friendly

Snow Zebra Sulawesi Shrimp (Caridina sp.) are a Sulawesi variety with soft white striping and pale, icy-toned bodies that stand out beautifully against dark substrate and planted aquascapes. Unlike most Sulawesi shrimp that require very high pH and specialty systems, our Snow Zebras are captive bred and fully adapted to Neocaridina-style parameters with harder water, making them one of the most approachable Sulawesi species for hobbyists.

Active, curious, and almost always out exploring, Snow Zebras behave much like Neocaridina shrimp — constantly grazing on biofilm, algae, botanicals, and rock surfaces. They thrive in warm, mature aquariums with stable water conditions, gentle flow, and plenty of grazing area. Over time, their banding becomes more defined as they settle in and grow.

Why We Love Them

  • Captive Bred & Hardy – Adapted to aquarium life and tolerant of Neo-style parameters
  • Distinctive Pale Striping – Soft zebra banding that shows beautifully in planted tanks
  • Active & Visible – Bold foragers, rarely hiding
  • Pairs Well With Rabbit Snails – We’ve observed excellent activity and breeding success in mixed setups
  • Great for Biofilm-Rich Aquascapes – Thrive in mature, stable environments

Recommended Water Parameters (Neo-Style Hard Water)

  • Temperature: 78–85°F
  • pH: 7.0–7.6
  • KH: 3–5 dKH
  • GH: 7–12 dGH
  • TDS: 150–300

These values closely match hard-water Neocaridina setups, which Snow Zebras tolerate far better than most Sulawesi species thanks to being captive bred.

Feeding

Snow Zebras do best with a varied, mineral-rich diet and strong biofilm presence. Our routine includes algae wafers, spirulina or probiotic micro-powders, blanched vegetables, botanicals, and naturally occurring biofilm.

Behavior & Tank Setup

Provide warm, stable conditions, rock piles or hardscape for grazing, moss or fine-leaf plants for cover, and low-stress tankmates. Gentle filtration and consistent parameters support healthy coloration, molting, and breeding.
