The Black Pinto Caridina Shrimp (Caridina cantonensis) is a striking solid-bodied shrimp marked by bold white spotting and patterning. These shrimp come from my Black and Blue Snowflake as well as Metallic Blue Boa tanks. While they don’t display the cape or cheek-spot patterns I’m selecting for in those lines, they stand out in their own right with their rich black color with white contrast. Some may develop subtle hints of blue as they mature, but the defining trait you’ll notice is the consistent dark body with diverse white spot arrangements.
For breeders, these shrimp carry genetics from multiple high-grade lines, meaning they can add depth and variety to a colony. Offspring may continue to express black pinto traits or throw surprises that reflect their snowflake and boa lineage.
